Who can participate in CruzFit?
All students, staff, faculty, retirees/emeriti are welcome to participate. This is a UCSC sponsored and funded program, so you must be affiliated with UCSC to participate!
Can I put together a team with more than four people?
No, your team must have two, three, or four participants.
Can I be on more than one team?
No, you may only join one team.
Can you match me up with teammates?
No, sorry-- we do not provide matchmaking services. Besides, inviting your friends and colleagues to engage in healthy activities with you is part of the challenge... and part of the fun!
Do we have to exercise at the Wellness Center?
No, absolutely not! You can exercise anywhere you would like! We are encouraging wellness anywhere, so be creative and find the places that work best in your life.
If I have an OPERS Membership Card and my teammates don't, can they get into the Wellness Center/OPERS for free?
First, we want to make it clear that exercise does not have to happen at the Wellness Center. We are encouraging wellness anywhere, so you and teammates can be creative and find the places that work best for you.
But, if you would like to work out at the Wellness Center and your teammates would like to work out there with you, they can:
a) pay the $5/day facility pass fee, or
b) purchase a wellness card for the quarter. Click here for Membership Card Info
You are encouraged to do activities with your teammates as often as possible, but points are still accumulated for activities done on your own.
What is the difference in the levels?
Easy - The goal is 1000 minutes in 10 weeks or 30 minutes per day, 4 days per week.
Moderate - The goal is 1500 minutes in 10 weeks or 40 minutes per day, 5 days per week.
Hard - The goal is 2000 minutes in 10 weeks or 40 minutes per day, 6 days per week.
Do all of the team members have to register to participate in CruzFit?
No. Only one team member (the team captain) should fill out the registration form. The person completing the registration form will need each team member's full name, ucsc email address, affiliation (staff/faculty/retiree/student), and college (for students only). A creative team name will also be required!
How do I earn minutes? How many minutes do I need to accumulate?
You can earn minutes by exercising. This can be any physical activity of your choice! The max amount per day is 90 minutes. In order to be eligible for the finisher prizes, you and your teammate(s) each must earn the minimum goal minutes by 3/8/13 and record the minutes with the CruzFit tracker.
Do I have to workout with my teammates all the time?
You are encouraged to do activities with your teammates as often as possible, but points are still accumulated for activities done on your own.
Does every person on the team have to log/track minutes?
Yes. Every team member must log individual minutes using the CruzFit Tracker. Logging your activity is a great way to help get you into a regular routine. It will also be your ticket to claim your program prizes!
